Thank you for your interest in our website. In this privacy policy, we inform you about the processing activities of your personal data in the context of our website. We take the protection of your personal data and your privacy seriously. Accessing and using our website

Your personal data is collected when you access and use our website with an internet browser on the end device you use for technical provision and to ensure the functionality and security of our website. A computer or smartphone with an internet browser, for example, can be used as a terminal device.

Your IP address is collected and stored for this purpose; the IP address is personal data. We then process the following data, which, in conjunction with your IP address, enables a personal reference:

- Terminal equipment used

- Internet browser used

- Date and time of access

- Website from which the access was made (so-called referrer URL)

This data processing is based on our legitimate interest in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR to provide you with the functions and content of our website so that you can access and use them with your end device, as well as to protect our website against potential risks (e.g. hacker attacks) by taking appropriate measures.

The website contains links to other websites. These links to websites of other internet participants are provided as a service to meet the user's need for further information. UWK has no influence on their content. UWK does not accept any liability for this content. The respective provider of the linked website is solely responsible for the content and correctness of the information provided there.

Online forms

Purpose of processing: If you contact us via an online form on the website or by email, the data you provide will be processed for the purpose of handling your demand and for follow-up questions. We will not pass on this data without your consent.

For this purpose, we process the following personal data from you:

  • Telephone number

Legal basis: The processing of your personal data in the context of establishing contact is based on the implementation of pre-contractual measures in accordance with Art. 6 (1) point b GDPR and on your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) point a GDPR.

Withdrawal of consent: You can withdraw your consent at any time. The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

Newsletter

Purpose of processing: The personal data you provide when registering to receive a selected newsletter will be processed for the purpose of sending information by email, including information on studying and teaching, research and events.

For this purpose, we process the following personal data about you:

  • Name
  • Gender
  • Email address

Legal basis: The data processing of your personal data is based exclusively on the consent you have given (Art. 6 para. 1 lit a GDPR) to send you the newsletter.

We use a so-called double opt-in procedure for granting your consent. Specifically, the procedure is as follows:

1. By clicking the “Register” button, the registration form is sent to us.

2. You will then receive an automated e-mail from us confirming receipt of your registration.

3. This e-mail contains a temporarily valid link that you can click on within 30 days if you wish to complete the registration.

4. If you click on the link within the specified validity period, registration for our newsletter is complete and we will store the consent you have given in our system.

Storage period: The data processed for the purposes mentioned will be stored until you revoke your consent to receive the newsletter. Beyond that, only the absolutely necessary data will be stored in accordance with the applicable legal provisions for the purpose of providing evidence of your consent or your revocation.

Withdrawal of consent: You can withdraw your consent to receive a particular newsletter at any time on the corresponding newsletter unsubscribe page on the UWK website. You can also unsubscribe from any individual newsletter at any time by clicking on the “Unsubscribe newsletter” button at the end of each newsletter. The withdrawal of your consent does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of your consent up to the withdrawal.

Use of cookies

In addition, when you access and use our website, we use cookies, which are stored on your device. Cookies can be used to store, enrich and manage information on users' devices that, when used with unique identifiers (so-called UIDs), allow identification or association with a natural person. With this in mind, the following measures, among others, are taken to protect your data and to secure it against loss, destruction, access, modification and distribution by unauthorized persons:

  • Ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, availability and resilience of processing-related systems and services;
  • Ensuring the rapid recovery of personal data availability in the event of a physical or technical incident;
  • Implementing procedures for regularly testing, assessing and evaluating the effectiveness of technical and organizational measures for ensuring the security of the processing.

Please note that we do not accept any liability for the disclosure of information due to errors in data transmission that are not caused by us or attributable to us and/or unauthorized access by third parties.

Your rights

As a user of our website, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR): You have the right to request confirmation from UWK as to whether your personal data is being processed. In addition, you have the right to request further information about the specific processing purposes, categories of personal data, recipients or categories of recipients of personal data, storage duration, the existence of a right to request the erasure or rectification of your personal data or restriction of processing and the right to object, the existence of a right to lodge a complaint, as well as all available information about the source of your data.
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): You have the right to request that UWK correct your personal data without delay. This right includes the correction of incorrect data and the completion of incomplete personal data.
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR): You have the right to request that UWK delete your personal data without delay if the reasons set out in Art. 17 (1) a) to f) GDPR (e.g. the purpose for processing no longer applies) and the processing of your personal data is no longer necessary.
  • Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR): In the cases specified in Art. 18 GDPR (e.g. inaccuracy of the processed personal data, unlawfulness of the processing, etc.), you also have the right to demand that UWK restrict the processing.
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR): You have the right to receive the personal data concerning you, which you have provided to UWK, in a structured, commonly used format and to request that UWK transmits this data to another controller (e.g. to another law firm).
  • Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): You have the right to object at any time to the processing of your personal data in connection with this website.
  • Revocation of declarations of consent (Art. 7 GDPR): You have the right to revoke consent given to UWK at any time.
